I was extremely worried. What would happen to me now that they knew that I had lost my mind? Would they put me in a padded cell and feed me through a hatch door? Would I end up in one of those places that you hear about, where people go in but never come out? Sue Whitaker
About This Quote

The lack of communication and understanding between doctors and patients can be challenging for patients and their loved ones. It is easy for doctors to think that they know more than their patients and that they can decide what is best for them. However, the truth is that the doctor only knows what is wrong with the patient and what can be done about that problem. Doctors are not qualified to make decisions about the life of their fellow human beings.

It is up to the patient to make decisions about his or her life. However, some people are also suffering from mental illness, making it difficult for them to understand this. Especially when they are suffering from some kind of depression or anxiety disorder, which can cloud their judgement on how to take care of themselves.

There are times when doctors will make the wrong choice for a patient, whether it is because they don’t understand how severe the problem is, or they make a decision without asking the patient first. If anyone had taken the time to talk with me before taking any action, I would have probably been given medication that was not appropriate for my condition.
